Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials
Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials
Authors: Wayne Douglas Barlowe & Ian Summers
Publication Date: 1979

I picked up this copy of Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials at the now defunct Acres of Books in Long Beach. Wayne Barlowe is a renowned science fiction and fantasy illustrator who conceptualized this alien guidebook during the late seventies. In addition to the 150 full-color paintings featured throughout the book, Barlowe also includes detailed physical and cultural information regarding each represented species. The aliens depicted in Barlowe’s guide were culled from various science fiction novels.
