Roc Marciano of the UN garnered a lot of attention from his early appearances on Pete Rock’s Petestrumentals album. Now Marciano is prepping the release of his own LP, Marcberg, due out through Fat Beats on April 20. This track, entitled “Thug’s Prayer,” is one of the early leaks from the upcoming album.

Man, Myth & Magic: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Supernatural
Volume 1
Editor: Richard Cavendish
Publication Date: 1970

This is a discarded library book that I picked up a few years ago at a Los Angeles County Public Library sale in Lakewood, CA. The pages throughout Man, Myth & Magic are filled with ancient drawings of demons and pagan gods, and there are chapters devoted to witchcraft, possession, and antichrist. Pages 132-133 depict a naked woman sacrificing a chicken as part of a voodoo ritual.
Man, Myth and Magic is a 24 volume encyclopedia set, but I was only able to find the first volume at the library sale.

Teen Angels Magazine features prison art, pen pal requests, and photographs of women. I bought issue number 226 at a small sidewalk newsstand in downtown L.A. The collage-style pencil drawing featured on the cover depicts several symbols and images related to Chicano street culture.

Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials
Authors: Wayne Douglas Barlowe & Ian Summers
Publication Date: 1979

I picked up this copy of Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials at the now defunct Acres of Books in Long Beach. Wayne Barlowe is a renowned science fiction and fantasy illustrator who conceptualized this alien guidebook during the late seventies. Not only does the book feature 150 full-color paintings, it also provides detailed physical and cultural information regarding each represented species. The aliens depicted in Barlowe’s guide were culled from various science fiction novels.
